Alec CCHS Conference
On Tuesday, September 20th, my placement, GW’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security (CCHS) co-hosted the Third Annual Conference on the Ethos and Profession of Intelligence with the Central Intelligence Agency. This was the second year in a row that GW has hosted the conference, and I was able to play a significant role in planning the event this year.  Over 900 individuals attended the conference, which was held in Lisner Auditorium.

The Director of the CIA John Brennan and the agency’s Office of Public Affairs began the tradition of this conference in an effort to engage more closely with the public and openly discuss the mission and activities of the agency in relation to a wide array of national interests. It was great opportunity to be a part of this effort, which has become increasingly important in a post-Snowden era.

The conference featured leaders from across the intelligence community, from around the world, and from within the private sector. A highlight of the day was a panel featuring Director Brennan and the heads of the secret intelligence services of Great Britain, Australia, and Afghanistan. The recordings of these panels can be found on the Center’s YouTube channel.

The night before the conference, CCHS hosted a reception and dinner in the City View Room of the Elliott School featuring remarks from the Director of the CIA and President Knapp.
