In an effort to strengthen support for graduate student research at GW, Presidential Fellows Nina Balandina and Markella Lanara organized a research support webinar in collaboration with GW Libraries and Academic Innovation. Led by Data Services Librarians Sarah Hoover and Emily Blumenthal, PhD, the session focused on effectively managing research data from start to finish. The event drew strong interest, with 152 RSVPs and approximately 50 attendees.
The webinar covered key steps in the data management process, including:
- creating a Data Management Plan (DMP),
- finding and evaluating data,
- understanding compliance requirements (IRB, DUAs),
- planning for data sharing and publication,
- best practices,
- common mistakes to avoid,
- and the support resources available to you across campus
