PAFs around the world on GW Alternative Winter Breaks!

In carrying on with the tradition of service that the PAF program holds with pride, four current PAFs joined the GW students on the Alternative Breaks team as Learning Partners to change the world through service this year.

Chris Kim, CCAS BS '13, a first-year in the Master of Public Policy program, traveled with students to Nicaragua to work with Waves of Hope.

Austin Frizzell, CCAS BA '13, a first-year PAF in the Master of Public Health program, traveled with GW students to New Orleans to assist with construction of homes in communities destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Chelsea Ullman, CCAS BA '12, a second-year PAF in the Master of Public Policy program, accompanied students to Costa Rica, where she explored issues of community empowerment and sustainability through projects such as installing eco-stoves in houses, working with youth in classrooms and exploring the rainforest.

Looking ahead, Michelle Suarez, ESIA BA '12, a second-year in the Master of Global Communication program, will be traveling with students to Otavalo, Ecuador in March with GW's first international Alternative Spring Break.
