In recent years, GW has made a concerted effort to develop a more interdisciplinary approach to research and academics. Interestingly, this interdisciplinary approach seems to have mirrored the creation of a new form of mentoring that Millennials are currently seeking from their professional experiences. To be more effective in our professional placements, and later in this workforce, the current PAF cohort often seeks to understand how Millennials are perceived by other generations and how we can work across generations to achieve the best possible outcomes. At the same time, we seek to use our diverse range of GW experiences to draw together unique parts of the university and learn from a number of experiences. These elements have come together with our consideration of “Mentoring in a Millennial World,” an interesting article PAF Professional Development Advisor Sara Melita recommends to consider as you may interact with Millennials in your workplace.
