PAFs Participate in First Annual GW Flag Day

April 28, 2015

On Wednesday, April 8th, the PAFs were excited to participate in GW’s inaugural Flag Day. With George Washington’s battle flag as the symbol of the day, the university established a new tradition with the goal of educating current GW students about the university’s Making History Campaign and how philanthropy impacts the student experience – an effort to “Rally the Troops.”

PAFs participated by staffing awareness stations, talking to students about the university’s philanthropic campaign, and encouraging students to write thank you notes to GW donors.  The event, which coincided with Alumni Giving Day, brought together 871 alumni, parents, and students to raise over $47,000 in contributions to support GW students. Perhaps even more impressive – more than 600 GW students made gifts to the university, unlocking a $5,000 contribution from an anonymous donor to support student life!
