The PAF weekly meeting on Tuesday, April 19 was larger than usual as the current cohorts were joined by the newest members of the PAF program, the 2016-2018 PAF cohort. Alex, Dor, Marisa, Grace, and Zunara have all accepted the opportunity to join the PAFamily and will begin their PAF experience this upcoming fall. The transition meeting served as a first glimpse into the program as the new PAFs met the current cohorts and members of the PAF Advising Team. It was great witnessing the PAF legacy expand.
The start of the meeting began with an interactive PAF Bingo as a quick way for the fellows to get to know one another, since this was the first time the current cohorts were able to meet the new PAFs as a group. In addition to the cohorts becoming acquainted with each other, the meeting served as a time to provide the incoming fellows with information about the months ahead.
Rising second-year fellow, Alec Nadeau, led the group in a professional development exercise on Learning Agility, the ability to adapt quickly to a situation. To highlight the role of learning agility, the group participated in an activity that discussed in detail what each month before PAF looks like as the incoming cohort prepares to transition into graduate school and the PAF program. Additionally, we completed a team riddle exercise which not only tested our agility, but highlighted differences in thought processes amongst PAFs. Participating in the activities provided the incoming cohort with vital skills that will help contribute to their success over the next two years.
