This year I started a placement at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences in the Department for Clinical Research and Leadership (CRL). I am very excited to be a part of a very dynamic office whose commitment to education and leadership is cultivated through a multidisciplinary approach. This department offers programs such as: occupational therapy, health intervention and disaster response, clinical and translational research, clinical research administration, emergency medical services, health care quality, etc.
I will be working on various projects with different faculty and staff, ranging from helping to build the content of an online Global Women’s Health Course, gaining skills in conference event planning, creating focus groups to evaluate current online academic formats, working as a research assistant on a Medicaid study, etc. I look forward to my year here, as I am already developing very useful skills, expanding my knowledge, and gaining new perspectives
Leslie Davidson, Ph.D., OT/L, FAOTA is the chair of the CRL department and my new preceptor. She oversees around 20 undergraduate and graduate academic programs in the department. Prior to coming to GW, Leslie was the director and associate professor of the Division of Occupational Therapy at Shenandoah University. This is the first time she has a Presidential Fellow placed in her office.
