On Wednesday March 4,, GW continued to Make History with the grand opening of the new Science and Engineering Hall (SEH). Administrators, faculty, staff, and donors were in attendance for the opening ceremonies and introduction to the new facilities. The building features a glass Teaching Tower designed for collaborative learning, an open floor plan that encourages cross-disciplinary conversation, and state of the art labs and facilities that are already being used to conduct groundbreaking research. GW is quickly rising in the ranks as a top-tier research institution, and the new Science and Engineering Hall will only accelerate innovation and discovery in the STEM fields.
As a university where history, science, and policy meet at an ideal geographical intersection, faculty, staff, students, and researchers in the SEH will have the unique opportunity to apply their work and share their findings with the world of Washington policymaking.
A number of current PAFs volunteered during opening day to provide tours to guests, alongside science and engineering students. Second Year PAF Shirley Hsieh, placed in the Office of the Vice President for Research, was especially involved in the planning of the day and organizing tours. It was an incredible opportunity to explore and learn more about SEH, and serve in the PAF ambassadorial role while welcoming alumni, donors, and guests to the new university building!
