PAF's host Provost Maltzman

During the Tuesday, December 12th weekly meeting, the Presidential Fellows were honored to host Provost Forrest Maltzman. Provost Maltzman met with the fellows to discuss his experience as the academic leader for the university. He and the fellows conversed about the goals and direction of GW.

In particular, they discussed ways the university may become more interdisciplinary and collaborative in the future. The fellows, like most students at GW, are interested in many subjects, and these interests sometimes span across GW’s schools. The provost explained that schools can often act like silos, and seek to contain all student activity within their administrative walls. And yet, the world outside of academia often requires students to be proficient in many subjects, regardless of whether that subject is taught in the Business School or Elliott.

Along with President LeBlanc, Provost Maltzman is dedicated to improving the GW student experience. The Presidential Fellows emphasized to the provost that encouraging interdisciplinary study is an important piece of that goal.
